Krumblor, the Cookie Dragon: Training and the Best Auras
Unlocking the dragon
The dragon is unlocked with the heavenly upgrade How to bake your dragon, which costs 9 heavenly chips and is one of the first things most players buy after their first ascension. After buying it, a cheap upgrade called A crumbly egg appears in your store. Buy it and a new button opens the dragon menu in the left panel, next to the big cookie.
From there you train Krumblor one step at a time. Each step is shown in the dragon menu with its cost, and you can do them in any session, so there is no need to finish in one go.
How training works
The first few steps cost cookies: you chip at the egg, hatch it, and teach the young dragon its first aura. These are cheap relative to a normal run and can be done early.
After that, every step asks you to sacrifice 100 of one building, in order: 100 Cursors, then 100 Grandmas, then 100 Farms, and so on up the building list. Each sacrifice teaches the dragon a new aura tied to that building. The buildings are gone once you sacrifice them, so the cheapest way through is to train right after an ascension or when the building in question is cheap compared with your income.
The last two steps are the big ones. Baking a dragon cookie asks for 50 of every building, and training a second aura slot asks for 200 of every building. That second slot is a major power spike, so it is worth planning for. The building price table shows how much 200 of each building costs.
Changing auras
You can swap auras at any time from the dragon menu. Each change costs one of your most expensive building, so swapping back and forth for a combo is affordable, but not free.
What each aura does
Auras unlock in the same order as the training steps. The ones you will actually use are marked with a star.
- Breath of Milk ★: kittens are 5% more effective. A solid choice for idle play while you wait for better auras.
- Dragon Cursor: clicking is 5% more powerful.
- Elder Battalion: grandmas gain 1% CpS for every non-grandma building you own.
- Reaper of Fields ★: golden cookies may trigger Dragon Harvest, a ×15 CpS buff for 60 seconds. One of the two main combo auras.
- Earth Shatterer ★: selling buildings returns 50% of their price instead of 25%. Used for selling tricks with the Pantheon spirit Godzamok and the Grimoire.
- Master of the Armory: upgrades are 2% cheaper.
- Fierce Hoarder: buildings are 2% cheaper.
- Dragon God: prestige gives 5% more CpS.
- Arcane Aura: golden cookies appear 5% more often.
- Dragonflight ★: golden cookies may trigger Dragonflight, which makes clicks worth ×1,111 for 10 seconds. The other main combo aura.
- Ancestral Metamorphosis: golden cookies give 10% more cookies.
- Unholy Dominion: wrath cookies give 10% more cookies.
- Epoch Manipulator: golden cookie effects last 5% longer.
- Mind Over Matter: random drops are 25% more common.
- Radiant Appetite ★: all cookie production is doubled. The simplest and strongest idle aura.
- Dragon's Fortune ★: +123% CpS for every golden cookie on screen. Strong when golden cookies stay up long, and during combos.
- Dragon's Curve: sugar lumps grow 5% faster and are 50% more likely to be unusual types.
- Reality Bending: gives 10% of the effect of every other aura.
- Dragon Orbs: selling your best building may grant a wish, in the form of a golden cookie effect.
- Supreme Intellect: changes how the minigames behave, for example the Grimoire's backfire chances.
- Dragon Guts ★: allows 2 more wrinklers, and they digest 20% more. The best aura for a wrinkler-based idle setup.
Which auras to pick
Idle play
With one slot, take Radiant Appetite as soon as you have it. Before that, Breath of Milk is a fine placeholder. With two slots, pair Radiant Appetite with Dragon Guts if you keep wrinklers, or with Breath of Milk if you do not. The Wrinkler Calculator shows what Dragon Guts adds for your CpS.
Active play and combos
Combo players typically run Reaper of Fields and Dragonflight together, since both turn golden cookies into extra buffs. Keep in mind that gaining Dragonflight removes an active Click Frenzy, so a combo built around Click Frenzy may do better with Reaper of Fields plus Dragon's Fortune. Try both setups in the Buff Simulator.
Right after ascending
Early in a run your CpS is small and buildings are cheap, so a cost-reduction aura like Fierce Hoarder can help you rebuild faster. Once your income picks up, switch back to Radiant Appetite.
Petting the dragon
With the heavenly upgrade Pet the dragon, clicking Krumblor in its menu has a small chance to drop one of four items, each a permanent upgrade for the rest of the run:
- Dragon scale: +3% CpS.
- Dragon claw: +3% clicking power.
- Dragon fang: +3% golden cookie gains.
- Dragon teddy bear: +3% random drops.
They are small bonuses, but they cost nothing except a few minutes of clicking at the start of each run.
Quick checklist
- Buy How to bake your dragon (9 HC) after your first ascension.
- Buy A crumbly egg and do the cookie-cost training steps early.
- Sacrifice 100 of each building while they are cheap after an ascension.
- Slot Radiant Appetite as soon as it unlocks.
- Save up for 200 of every building to unlock the second aura slot.
- Pet the dragon for its four drops at the start of each run.
