- Kitten upgrades multiply CpS based on your milk, which comes from achievements. They get stronger every time you earn an achievement.
- Grandma types and synergies link two buildings, so owning more of one boosts the other.
- Research from the Bingo center leads into the Grandmapocalypse, and seasonal upgrades come from Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine's events.
- Heavenly upgrades are bought with heavenly chips when you ascend and stay with you across runs.
What to buy first
A simple rule works well: buy an upgrade as soon as it costs less than a building you were about to buy. Most upgrades multiply what you already have, so they pay for themselves faster than another building. Kitten upgrades are the main exception to waiting. They are expensive, but they are usually worth buying right away because they scale with every achievement you will ever earn.

Keeping upgrades between ascensions
Normal upgrades reset when you ascend. The Permanent upgrade slot heavenly upgrades let you keep one regular upgrade each across runs, and the most common choice is a strong cookie or kitten upgrade. Plan those slots with the Ascension Planner.
