Grandmapocalypse Explained: Friend or Foe?
Triggering the Event
The event starts when you buy the One Mind upgrade. There are four stages of the Grandmapocalypse:
- Stage 0 (Appeased): No wrinklers, all cookies are Golden.
- Stage 1 (Awoken): 33% chance of Wrath cookies, wrinklers begin to spawn.
- Stage 2 (Displeased): 66% chance of Wrath cookies.
- Stage 3 (Angered): 100% chance of Wrath cookies.
The Power of Wrinklers
Wrinklers appear to be bad because they reduce your CpS by 5% each. With 10 wrinklers, your displayed CpS is cut in half. However, they are secretly your best friends:
- The 1.1x Multiplier: Each wrinkler "eats" 5% of your CpS, but it actually stores that amount plus a 1.1x bonus.
- Total Boost: With 10 wrinklers, you are actually earning 6x your base CpS passively. With 12 wrinklers (heavenly upgrades), this reaches ~7.4x.
- Pop Timing: Only pop wrinklers when you absolutely need the cookies to buy a crucial upgrade. Otherwise, let them eat!
Golden vs. Wrath Cookies
Wrath cookies can have negative effects like Clot (half CpS) or Ruin (loss of cookies). However, they also contain Elder Frenzy (x666), which is the strongest single multiplier in the game.
For active players, staying in Stage 3 (Angered) is often the best strategy because you can stack Elder Frenzy with Grimoire spells for astronomical gains.
Should You Use Elder Covenant?
The Elder Covenant stops the Grandmapocalypse at the cost of 5% of your total CpS. In almost all scenarios, this is not recommended. The benefits of wrinklers far outweigh the 5% cost and the risk of wrath cookies.
