How golden cookies spawn
Golden cookies do not appear on a fixed timer. After one disappears, the game waits a minimum time before another can spawn. After that, the chance of a spawn rises steadily each second until it is guaranteed at the maximum time. Without upgrades that window runs from 5 to 15 minutes.
Frequency upgrades shrink both ends of the window. Lucky day and Serendipity each double golden cookie frequency, and smaller bonuses come from items like Heavenly luck and the Golden goose egg. Select what you own and the calculator shows your fastest, slowest and average spawn times. Lasting fortune and Dragon fang are often listed here, but they change how long effects last and how much cookies pay, not how often cookies appear.
How long they stay on screen
A golden cookie lasts 13 seconds before fading. Lucky day and Serendipity also double this each, which is why they are the first golden cookie upgrades every player buys. Longer on-screen time matters more for idle players who check in occasionally.
Making the most of spawns
More golden cookies means more Frenzies and more chances to land a building special while another buff is active. Pairing faster spawns with a Lucky! bank lets each golden cookie pay out in full. Use the Lucky! calculator to size your bank, and the Buff Simulator to see what a combo is worth.
